Fire door inspectors serving Galway
Galway combines a busy city centre of hotels, bars and apartments above shops with two large universities, the Parkmore and Ballybrit technology and med-tech parks, and University Hospital Galway — all buildings where fire doors do a lot of quiet, essential work.
Older city-centre buildings in particular often have fire doors that have been painted, planed, re-hung or fitted with the wrong hardware over the years. Our 30-point inspection identifies exactly what each door needs to be brought back to compliance, and our carpenters carry out the repairs to BS 8214.
We travel to Galway from Dublin and, as with Cork and Limerick, can group buildings across the city and county into one visit for management companies and facilities teams.
What the 30-point inspection covers
- Door leaf, frame and threshold condition
- Intumescent strips and cold smoke seals
- Hinges, closers, latches and hold-open devices
- Gaps around the leaf (3mm ± 1mm) and at the threshold
- Glazing, vision panels and glazing beads
- Signage, certification labels and door plugs
Repairs to BS 8214
Our specialist carpenters repair FD30 and FD60 timber fire doors in Galway: replacing intumescent and smoke seals, adjusting or replacing closers and hinges, correcting gaps, re-glazing vision panels and fitting compliant signage. Minor repairs are usually completed on the inspection visit.

Fire door inspection in Galway — your questions answered
Do you cover all of County Galway and Connacht?
Yes. We inspect fire doors throughout Galway city and county and the wider Connacht region, including Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo. Travel is built into a fixed per-building quote, and we can combine several sites into one trip.
How do you know if a door in an older Galway building is a fire door?
We look for a certification label or plug on the top edge of the leaf, check the construction and thickness of the door, the frame, the seals and the hardware, and record the evidence. Where a door cannot be verified as a fire door we say so clearly in the report along with your options.
How long does a fire door inspection take?
As a guide, an inspector completes a thorough 30-point check of a typical door set in around 10–15 minutes, so a building with 40 doors is usually a full day including the report. We confirm timing once we know your door count and access arrangements.
Will I get a certificate after the inspection?
You receive a full inspection report and asset register showing the condition and pass/fail status of every door, plus a compliance summary. Once repairs are completed, we update the register so you have a clear record of remediation for your insurer and fire officer.
